Where is it Located?
There are a number of land-mark sites surrounding The Yala Heights Meditation And Relaxation Centre that would rouse the interest of any one studying environs and the surrounding area on which it is located. To the East of the Centre is Southern Uththala Mountain Range on which is the renowned Sacred City of Kataragama and the neighboring Wedi Hiti Kanda the Holy pilgrim site is situated. To the North of the Centre lies the famous Yala Forest Reserve and the equally famous Nimalava Aranya Senasanaya – Hermitage in the Forest while to the South is the Historical Enclave where the revered Queen, Vihara Maha Devi, who had been set afloat in the sea in the West of the Island, is believed to have washed ashore; and also the Hermitage Complex in the Historical Royal Temple of Sithul Pauvva (The Rock Enclave) in which it believed over 1,200 Buddhist Monks, who have reached Arahathood, had lived.
This sites are endowed with a bio-diversity inherent to its environs alone! Seen from a great height, these dense tree-tops foliage creates a fascinating sight. Though surrounded by these ever-green forest-like atmosphere, the Centre is cocooned in a safe environment devoid of any wild-animal encroachments. The quite and salubrious conditions in the site-area is ideal and conducive for meditative activities!
The Maximum Temperature in the December-January to March period of the year, constantly vary from 30-32 Celsius.
As the Centre is located on a high plain, on a hillock, it is constantly fanned by a swirling breeze, that runs across the location.
